Kidchella

  • Courthouse Square 2200 Broadway Redwood City, CA, 94063 United States (map)

Redwood City is proud to offer our kids music series for a sixth year! For FOUR Sundays this summer, the ubiquitous Andy-Z will be the Master of Music and Play by bringing his high energy to Courthouse Square. Sponsored by Redwood City's Public Library and Parks, Recreation and Community Services Department, this series will provide a safe and fun environment for kids to dance and enjoy live music along with an inflatable play-land this summer!

About Emcee "MC" Andy Z
Redwood City-born kindie-rock artist Andy Z literally feels right at home MC'ing kids rock concert series, Kidchella. In addition to performing live for hundreds of audiences every year, and at such prominent national music festivals as Strings Music Festival in Colorado and Austin City Limits Festival in Texas, he has guest deejayed on the national radio shows Spare The Rock Spoil The Child and Hilltown Family Variety Show. As a celebrity, he appeared with Nancy Cartwright (the voice of Bart Simpson) at the joint event "Stars In The Park", and with San Francisco Giants mascot “Lou Seal”, leading the Highlander Little League Opening Day crowd in a rousing rendition of “Take Me Out To The Ball Game”.

The Hipwaders

The Hipwaders have had several top ten songs on XM/SIRIUS Radio including #1 songs, ”Hey Josie!” & "Educated Kid”. The Hipwaders have recorded 5 albums including a NAPPA award-winning album of original Christmas songs. Their latest release, 2011’s “The Golden State”, recently received a NAPPA Gold Award. "In the same spirit of completely wonderful, whimsical and musically gifted treats for the young set is the Bay Area-based Hipwaders, pulling off some brilliantly fun and surprisingly hip songs extolling touchstones of childlike glee including art cars and dinosaurs. With Devo influences the post-mod-rock trio lays some serious grooves and invokes the best spirits of They Might be Giants, Schoolhouse Rocks and The Beatles’ veiled odes to decadence that were so brilliant no one cared what they were about. The Hipwaders are on a great path to immortality [...] that speaks to children of all ages and can be reinterpreted on multiple cultural and spiritual levels. Indeed we all might be hip-deep soon."
