Ages 10 to Adult
In 1936, Walt Disney felt that Mickey Mouse needed to return to the public eye and planned to feature him in a short piece called “The Sorcerer’s Apprentice”. The thought to expand the project into a feature film that combined animation and classical compositions led to what we now know as Fantasia (1940). Walt felt that for this next feature, music would inspire the artwork and that the story would be revealed through sounds. In fact, the opening number of the film uses abstract and representational visuals of violins against a piebald background to tell its tale. In this workshop, learn the fundamentals of lines and shapes as you immerse yourself in music, to create three different visual pieces based on what you hear.
