The Marin City Library is proud to welcome New York Times bestselling author, educator, and activist Renée Watson. Her novel, "Piecing Me Together," received a Newbery Honor and Coretta Scott King Award. Her books include "Some Places More Than Others"; "This Side of Home"; "What Momma Left Me"; "Betty Before X," co-written with Ilyasah Shabazz; and "Watch Us Rise", co-written with Ellen Hagan, as well as two highly acclaimed picture books: "A Place Where Hurricanes Happen" and "Harlem's Little Blackbird", which was nominated for an NAACP Image Award.
Renée will be reading from her new middle-grade book, "Ways to Make Sunshine", the first in the Ryan Hart series. Meet plucky fourth-grader Ryan Hart and see how she navigates the ups and downs of moving to a new neighborhood, starting at a new school, and dealing with her annoying older brother. No matter what, Ryan always finds ways to make sunshine.
