Community Music Day is Crowden's annual musical carnival for all ages. Join Crowden, San Francisco Chamber Orchestra, San Francisco Girls Chorus, and East Bay Music Together for musical fun throughout the day!
What to Do at Community Music Day
Instrument Petting Zoo
Kids and adults alike explore, touch, and learn to make sounds on all the different instruments in a symphony orchestra, with the help of our young Crowden student Zookeepers! We even have special miniature string instruments for tiny hands and fingers.
Very First Concerts with the San Francisco Chamber Orchestra
San Francisco Chamber Orchestra and Crowden Music Center encourage audiences to get up and dance in Very First Concerts, a classical series designed with the youngest listeners in mind.
Each concert features a central theme, short selections, tumbling mats for fidgety toddlers, and hands-on musical activities geared toward families with young children (infants to 7 year-olds).
This year's Very First Concerts theme is "What Does a Conductor Do?"
What’s the magic in that little wooden stick, and why is that guy standing in front of all those musicians in the first place? Come unravel the mysteries of the maestro and learn to lead an orchestra yourself in these 20-minute concerts.
Repeat performances 11am, 11:40am, & 12:20pm. Due to popular demand, free tickets to Very First Concerts will be issued at Community Music Day on a first come, first served basis.
