Join us when the USS Potomac heads out to take part in the Opening Day on the Bay activities in San Francisco Bay!
See all kinds and sizes of watercraft, many decorated with flags and banners, including tugboats, sail boats, cutters, fire boats, even sailboards, all gathering on the water to mark the official, annual opening of sailing and cruising in San Francisco Bay.
We'll head over to Sausalito and Raccoon Straits for the Blessing of the Fleet, then near the Golden Gate Bridge take our place in the Parade of Ships behind the fireboats that are spraying their hoses high into the air.
You'll also enjoy the picturesque views and sights as we are cruising around by Alcatraz, Angel Island, Treasure Island, the San Francisco waterfront and other sights.
Your cruise experience begins with a 15-minute video in the Visitor Center at Jack London Square that provides a glimpse of Franklin Delano Roosevelt’s use of the USS Potomac. It tells the story of Potomac and the 32nd president of the United States, her remarkable and unlikely journey to San Francisco, and her historic 14-year restoration back to presidential glory.
Once on board, find a docent and ask for a tour of the ship! You'll see the officer's and crews' quarters, presidential cabin and dining room, galleys, and Secret Service cabins, and you'll meet Potomac's captain in the wheelhouse.
Your cruise includes a box lunch with coffee, tea and dispensed water complimentary. Beer, wine, soft drinks and bottled water will be available for sale. Potomac merchandise and souvenirs will also be available for purchase on board.
