Ways To Observe Veterans Day Across The Bay

It is a great honor to celebrate my father, grandpa and all U.S. military veterans for their service and and dedication to the freedoms we have. Here is a list of Veteran's Day events in the Bay Area.

SATURDAY NOVEMBER 3rd

Veterans Day USO-Style Dance, Travel back in time to a USO-style dance at the Officers’ Club in its World War II heyday! Light up the city’s most historic dance floor as you swing to the 1940s rhythms of The Royal Society Jazz Orchestra, and enjoy classic cocktails available for purchase. Military/vintage dress encouraged – we’ll even round out the night with a costume contest! Presidio Officer's Club, San Francisco.

SUNDAY NOVEMBER 11th

Veterans' Day Service, 9:30am, Honor those who have served our country. Marin’s Veterans’ Day program will begin in the Marin Veterans’ Memorial Auditorium with music, military exercises and a brief address. It will continue in front of the World War I, World War II and Korean, Vietnam and Merchant Marine Memorials on the Avenue of the Flags. Refreshments will be served after the ceremony in the Redwood Foyer, Marin Veterans’ Memorial Auditorium, San Rafael.

San Francisco Mayor’s Veterans Day Parade, 11am, This year, the parade will be an historic event because it is the 100th Anniversary of the ending of World War One, which ended on November 11, 1918, on the eleventh hour, of the eleventh day of the eleventh month. The parade will start on the Embarcadero at North Point Street, proceeds west on Jefferson Street, pass the review stand on Jefferson Street near Leavenworth and then disband, Fisherman’s Wharf, San Francisco.

Veteran's Day Cruise on San Francisco Bay, 11am, A two and 1/2 hour cruise on San Francisco Bay featuring the Alameda Naval Station, USS Hornet, Jeremiah O'Brien and the submarine Pampanito. Complimentary coffee, tea and water will be available.

Interfaith Service of Remembrance, 11:00 am, at the Main Post Chapel of the The Interfaith Center at the Presidio, 130 Fisher Loop, San Francisco. World War One Centennial Remembrance with the national tolling of bells to honor those who served in the Great War

San Jose Veteran's Day Parade, 10am, memorial ceremony at Plaza de Cesar Chavez on Market Street. The colorful parade steps off at 11am from Delmas Street, continuing east along Santa Clara to Market Street, then ending at San Carlos Street.

Petaluma Veterans Day Parade, Military color guards & vehicles, drill teams, floats, antique vehicles & more, complete with fly-overs by a Huey Heliocopter & Sheriff & USCG helicopters. Festivities start at noon in Walnut Park. Parade begins at 1pm on corner of 4th & D Streets, Petaluma.

MONDAY NOVEMBER 12th

Interfaith Service of Remembrance, 11:00 am, at the Main Post Chapel of the The Interfaith Center at the Presidio, 130 Fisher Loop, San Francisco. Come honor American veterans of all wars in prayer, meditation and music.
