FREE Summer Camps & Workshops at Stern Grove
/Stern Grove Festival’s admission-FREE education and outreach programs provide enriching opportunities for thousands of Bay Area children and adults each year and registration is now open. This summer, participants can learn dance, drumming, songwriting, and more and they book up fast. Parents can participate too! Stern Grove Festival’s education and outreach programs include:
KIDS DAY
Single day interactive arts education programs for children ages 4-11.
Dholrhythms
When: July 10, July 11, &/or July 12
Time: 11am to 2pm
Experience high-energy Bhangra dance from Punjab, India with Dholrhythms dance company.
Aguacero
When: July 17, July 18 &/or July 19
Time: 11am to 2pm
Explore Bomba music and dance from Puerto Rico with Aguacero.
San Francisco Ballet
When: July 24, July 25 or July 26
Time: 11am to 2pmLearn about dance and movement from around the world with San Francisco Ballet dance educators.
KIDS CAMP
In 2018, Stern Grove Festival will present three Kids Camps in Residence:
- June 18 - June 22 at Starr King Elementary with YMCA Urban Services
- June 25 - June 29 at Joseph Lee Recreation Center
- July 30 - August 3 at Minnie & Lovie Ward Recreation Center
Kids Camps are provided free to children participating in the summer programs at these locations.
Local teaching artists will provide hands-on, interactive workshops exploring hip-hop music, dance and spoken word, and Puerto Rican Bomba music.
KIDSTAGE
From 12-1:30pm before every Sunday concert, kids of all ages can experience hands-on art projects, a musical instrument exploration station, and dance workshops with local teaching artists at KidStage in the West Meadow.
The 81st Season line-up of KidStage events will be announced on May 1, 2018.
ARTIST TALKS
Informative pre-concert Artist Talks take place with featured Festival artists at the Grove’s Trocadero Clubhouse on select concert Sundays.

The Stern Grove Festival Association is a non-profit arts presenting organization committed to providing the people of the Bay Area with admission-free access to diverse, outstanding performing arts. Every year since 1938, the organization presents admission-free, outdoor concerts at Stern Grove Festival. A San Francisco tradition, music and nature lovers gather at The Festival to enjoy music, picnicking, and relaxation in a serene meadow surrounded by giant eucalyptus, redwood, and fir trees.
