Slap on your flippers and get ready to run at this years Run for the Seals this SATURDAY AUGUST 15 at The Marine Mammal Center in Sausalito. Be sure to invite your two and four legged friends to join. The race is open to runners and walkers of all ages, including runners in costume. All participants will be treated to complimentary food, drinks, and tours at the Marine Mammal Center one you've crossed the finish line.

All money raised helps support the care of sick and injured seals and sea lions.

Course Info

A new route – Run for the Seals 5k!
The 5k route, beginning in the parking area at the Center, will take you along the Coastal Trail with breathtaking views of the ocean, descend to the road along Rodeo Beach and Lagoon, then turn around to finish in the parking area where we started. The race will be timed and is certified by the USATF (CA15041RS). You can view a map here.

This run is open to all ages, runners with and without costumes (yes, there will be a contest) and your canines (on leash, of course). Competitive runners will start in the first wave, slightly less ambitious runners and runners with dogs will start in a second wave.

Two-Mile Fun Run/Walk

The Route
The two mile Fun Run/Walk will initially follow the 5k course out of the Center’s parking area up the Coastal trail with amazing views of the Pacific. The route then descends to Mitchell Road along the beach and heads back to the Center.

The Fun Run/Walk is open to all ages, walkers and runners with and without costumes (be ready for the contest!) and dogs (on leash, please). Strollers are also welcome, however, please be aware that part of the route is on a trail that features some uneven footing including some gravel, and includes prolonged inclines.

All pre-registered ON-SITE participants (not virtual runners) receive a free commemorative t-shirt.

Virtual Runners

Can’t make it to the race? Run, walk, or couch surf wherever you are by signing up as a “virtual runner.”

Stay for Family Fun Day!

Family Fun Day is just that. Once you return from your run or walk, great food, drink, and fun activities, including kids science games and free docent led tours, await at the Center.

And of course, everyone can see the animal patients from our observation deck as well as peer into the kitchen and chart room viewing windows.

Registration fees are not a donation (not tax-deductible), and we invite all participants to fundraise. All kinds of prizes are up for grabs, including best costume (canine and human!), fastest finishers, top fundraisers and more!

*Commemorative Run for the Seals T-shirts are available to fee-paying race-day registrants on race day while supplies and sizes last. Free t-shirts are only available for ON-SITE participants, not virtual runners. Children under five are not eligible for a free Run for the Seals T-shirt.
