Native American Trade Feast

Join The Museum of the American Indian in Novato for a unique gathering at this revered Native American cultural and historic site set in a former Coast Miwok settlement. The Native American Trade Feast showcases Native American culture through dance, music, authentic craft demonstrations, storytelling and more.

Featured at this year’s event will be colorful performances by a variety of indigenous dancers including Eddie Madril (Native American traditional/hoop dancer) Kalpulli Anahuak (Aztec Dancers), Sonoma County Pomo Dancers (California Indian dancers) and Hula Manu O’o Dancers (Hawaiian dancers). Madril will engage spectators creating an interactive and fun experience, especially for children.

Native American Drums

Enjoy the rhythm and power featuring performances by the Northern Native American Drum, Red Voice and the all women’s drum, Unole.

Demonstrations

The Native American Trade Feast will also have many Native related information booths and demonstrations of Native crafts like basketry, regalia making and shell bead drilling.

Arts & Crafts

Find that one-of-a-kind holiday gift in the artists' marketplace, where world-renowned Native and Native-inspired artists and crafters demonstrate their skills and offer hand-crafted items for sale including abalone shell jewelry, rawhide shields, beadwork, silver and turquoise jewelry, dreamcatchers, clay and gourd masks, original art prints, photography, kelp and Pomo baskets, pottery, Native dance regalia and many more items.

Delicious Eats

An array of eateries will available to serve up fresh, delicious local food by Tommy’s Salsa, 7 Generations Intertribal Council Fry Bread and Kona Ice.

This is a family friendly event with free admission and everyone is welcome. Parking will be available off site at the Lutheran Church. The Native American Trade Feast is a unique opportunity for the public to come together to celebrate and learn about the history of our land and is an event not to be missed.
