Heritage Day at China Camp State Park

* Sadly, Heritage Day has been canceled this year. *

Heritage Day at China Camp State Park is August 27, 11am-4pm in San Rafael.

China Camp is a hidden gem located on San Pablo Bay that was once was a small fishing village where in the late 1800s Chinese immigrants fished for shrimp. Today it is a popular spot with hikers, bicyclists and picnickers. This weekend is the annual Heritage Day celebrating the original Chinese shrimp fisherman for whom the place is named.

Celebrate Chinese-American heritage, seafaring culture, and the natural history of your beautiful park. Heritage Day features musical and dance performances, including Lion Dancers and Chinese folk dancers.  There are arts and crafts for sale, with 20% of the proceeds going to help Friends of China Camp.  Local environmental, cultural, and historical groups set up educational displays, including the San Francisco Bay National Estuarine Research Reserve, the Marin History Museum, and Wildcare.  The Grace Quan, a replica Chinese junk, is docked offshore, along with other historic boats.
