5 Pandemic Party Ideas with Celebrations Party Rental

Just because you can’t bring all your friends and family to your house in person with hugs and all the things, doesn’t mean you can’t celebrate special moments in style. We’re sharing a list of five party ideas that are sure to bring a smile to your face and make this crazy pandemic life feel a tad more normal.

Upgraded Movie Night

Instead of your standard screening, add some swag to the night by creating a theater experience at home. First you’ll want to pick an exciting flick. Next get creative with the kids and make your own movie tickets. There are a ton of DIY tutorials or print a pre-made design. Grab a selection of movie theater candy. Popcorn is a favorite part of every trip to the theater so make it memorable by getting cute popcorn bags for serving or level up your movie night by renting a popcorn machine for that authentic experience. Lastly, pick a location that is comfortable and dark. Move it outside is a super fun option. You’ll need a projector, screen, speakers and lot’s of blankets and pillows.

A World Awaits Picnic

Add festive throws from faraway lands in this intimate celebration. You choose the place that inspires the food, decor and theme. Like this Moroccan theme pictured here. You’ll be sure to find some beautiful inspiring photos. Set the space with lightweight throws, flowers and Moroccan cuisine - either something you cook up or support a local restaurant like Khamsa SF for take out. Set the mood with some music and enjoy traveling to a world away right from your backyard. Be sure to include an on theme keepsake for guests to commemorate their trip, even if it was just out the backdoor.

Virtual Party

Take any party you had planned (birthday, graduation, first communion or retirement), move it online and let the magic unfold. For a more cohesive experience send attendees the same decor and food that you’ll be enjoying from home. With the virtual celebrations it’s important to have festive decor and goodies to make it feel like a true celebration. When things get awkward, consider throwing on music for a dance party. Keep it light and fun by letting your guests know that this is a no pressure soiree, if they have to sign out it’s all good. Another option is to have time slots for guests to sign on where they can have a more intimate one on one experience with the guest of honor. Remember this is not comfortable for everyone so be patient, inviting and go with the flow!

Live Entertainment

Looking for an interactive bash? Hire a professional to do a performance piece in your driveway or yard, someplace that has ample space for physical distance. Kids love meeting their heroes and favorite movie stars so what a better way to say happy birthday (or happy start to school) then a visit from Darth Vader? There are a few local companies that provide star studded talent to entertain you and your family. Whether it be an epic Jedi battle or a magic show, live entertainment delivers on making memories that are sure to last a lifetime.

Drive By

We’ve all heard the horns and seen the balloons marking a milestone celebration. The drive by birthday made its debut in 2020 and looks like it’s here to stay. One way to upgrade your drive by celebration is to have an individual goodie for your “guests”. Many bakeries are providing individual wrapping for their cupcakes and cookies. Have them laid out on a table close to the street for easy pick up. Personalized balloon garlands, lawn signs and music are another way to make your guest of honor feel special and set the tone for an epic celebration. If your guest of honor is tired of staying home take your drive by on the road, ask your “guests” to come out at a certain time with signs as you drive by their home.

We need to shift the way we do things, the way we execute activities and the way we think about our world. These are uneasy times to be sure but it doesn’t mean we can’t find joy in the everyday, we simply have to shift how we do it. Parties can and should go on because after all life is worth celebrating. Each moment we are here with the ones we love is a moment to be cherished. So party on people, just do it responsibly and physically distanced.
