3 Ways in 30 Days to Stay Healthy and Fit While in Quarantine
/30 more days, or more?! Oh boy! What an ideal time for families to join in collective goals to stay healthy and fit together. Whether it’s a fitness class online, a walk around the neighborhood or baking healthy treats, there is no doubt you can take advantage of this time, build some strength and hopefully, get healthier day-by-day. There is a silver lining to all of this, after all!
If you want to get on board, but you’re just not sure the healthiest approach, here are three simple ways to stay in shape with the family during quarantine.
Set Your Goals to 10k Steps a Day
Get your Quarantine Family team together, your watches ready, track your steps and set a goal to get in 10ksteps a day! If you don’t have a tracker on your watch, every iPhone has a “health app” that will automatically track steps for you. Don’t get caught up on accuracy, every improvement helps so just step a little more day-by-day.
Snack Healthy
Do you and the kids have a case of the munchies? AIM’s Farmer Market is still open every Sunday; stash your fridge with strawberries, carrots and make sure to try crunchy vegetable snack crackers and dips from Mami’s Crunch! Additionally, Star Route Farms is offering pick up at Watershed at Mill Valley Lumberyard. When fresh fruits and vegetables are just not an option, here are a few of my favorite snacks, created by local companies, to keep around the house:
iWon Organics Protein puffs and sticks that are bound to keep the kids snacking healthier. My son loves the spicy flavors and I’m so grateful to have a healthy protein based snack around the house versus chips without any nutritional benefits.
Another great option for the entire family is Dosa Chips, made with a slow fermentation process and antioxidant-rich rice bran oil creating healthy guts, ideal for building our immune system. It’s so crunchy and delicious you would never know they’re good for you too! Available online or at Mill Valley Market, Juice Girl and Nugget Market.
Get the kids off soda and into Kombucha, rich in probiotics and antioxidants, which benefit your brain, heart and gut. One of our favorites is Marin Kombucha’s Pinot Sage (but every flavor is equally as delicious.)
Just because we have to remain inside doesn’t mean we have to give up our health. As a matter of fact, this is the ideal time to join together and stay healthy and fit as a family.
