Learn to Skate – Free Clinic, 10am – 12pm, rangers will offer tips and techniques for beginners as well as ways to attack features that build confidence and skill. This event is geared towards the newbie skateboarder and those looking to cross over from other board sports, but aren’t quite sure how to start, Meet at the skatepark in McInnis Park in San Rafael.

Sunday, January 7, Golden Globe Awards
Learn to Ride, 9 – 11am, Learn to ride pump tracks and rollers with a ranger at the Stafford Lake Bike Park. A limited amount of bicycles and helmets will be available on a first come, first-served basis. This event is ideal for all ages.
The Story of Marin’s Coho Salmon and Steelhead, 9am – 12pm, ages 7+, Rangers Gabe Ngarangad and Craig Solin will lead a family friendly hike along Lagunitas Creek in San Geronimo. If Mother Nature cooperates, we’ll witness one of Marin’s natural treasures: Steelhead and coho salmon returning from the sea. Learn about the life cycles of these fish, the efforts to restore local populations, and some of the interesting local history.
Tree planting at Stafford Lake Bike Park, 9am – 12pm, ages 12+, planting native trees in select locations. Volunteer work is mildly strenuous and involves bending, pulling, and kneeling.
Point Reyes Christmas Bird Count for Kids, 9:45am-3pm, Gather your fledglings for this half-day event celebrating nature, parks, education and outdoor family fun, The Red Barn at Bear Valley.
YBike Learn to Ride Program, 11am-2pm, Presidio, San Francisco.
Sandcastle Build, 12 – 2pm, let your creativity run wild! Join ranger staff to build sandcastles and whatever else you can imagine using materials from nature. Sand, seaweed, driftwood, and shells are a few of the materials we can use to create unique masterpieces! Work as a group or solo. The only requirement is having a great time in the beautiful outdoors, Meet at Upton Beach near the north parking lot at Stinson Beach.
