First conceived for YBG Festival’s 20th Anniversary celebration in 2020 as 20 artist commissions, the YBG Festival Seed Commissions program quickly evolved to address the acute needs of Bay Area artists during the pandemic. Now in its 4th year, the program has awarded over 60 local creatives through an artist-centered selection process in which artists from previous cohorts nominate artists for the next round. The YBGF Seed Festival is a one-day celebration of these artists and the conversations that arise between them, in music, dance, spoken word, storytelling and more. Featured artists in this unique day of collaboration include local luminaires Alleluia Panis, Mahealani Uchiyama, Vân-Ánh Võ , Esotérica Tropical, Rocky Rivera, Lalin St. Juste, Kev Choice and RyanNicole. Drawing from deep roots, the Festival plants promising seeds for the next generation of artists to come.
