A blazing Latin dance band, Conjunto Karabali features a world-class array of talent. The band is co-led by two of North America’s most renowned percussionists, veteran Santana conguero Karl Perazzo and Mike Spiro, a 10-time Grammy Award nominee and the only non-Cuban ever nominated for a Cubadisco award in the Afro-Cuban traditional music category. Describing Karabali’s style as “old school salsa” steeped in the traditional New York conjunto sound popularized by Johnny Pacheco, Conjunto Clásico, and Conjunto Libre, they’ve calibrated the band to maximize the enjoyment of dancers. With the potent lead vocals of Uruguayan-born Edgardo Cambon, Camilo Landau on guitar and tres, and an all-star horn section with trumpeter Bill Ortega and trombonists Mike Rinta and Jeff Cressman, the band is dedicated to whipping dancers into a joyful sweat.
