After a week of euphoria, healing and celebration, the Get Free Festival (July 1-8 at Dance Mission Theater) culminates at Yerba Buena Gardens with Timing Is Synchronicity, a playfully inventive interdisciplinary performance that intertwines street dance battle culture, live music, spoken word and improvisation. Presented by the Embodiment Project, the free weeklong hip-hop dance festival is rooted in the artistry of freestyling, experimental battling and healing through community practices. Embodiment Project has staged and toured ten original multidisciplinary dance productions, including Chalk Outlines, which featured singer/songwriter Valerie Troutt’s Isadora Duncan Dance Award-winning original score. Troutt is one of the live vocalists performing in Get Free’s Timing Is Synchronicity, an unpredictable explosion of multi-disciplinary creativity.
