Immerse yourself in the uplifting spirit of the Glide Ensemble (https://www.glide.org/church/) at the #UniteSF festival at SF Civic Center Plaza at 4:00 PM. Since its inception in 1966 within the Glide Memorial Church, this choir has stood as a towering figure of empowerment, unity, and musical transcendence. With a lineage that includes collaborations with luminaries like Sammy Davis Jr., Leonard Bernstein, Marvin Gaye, Bono, Bobby McFerrin, Maya Angelou, and Joan Baez, they bring a soulful blend of gospel, jazz, and blues that speaks directly to the heart. Their performances transcend mere music, embodying a message of diversity, acceptance, and unyielding hope. From their humble beginnings with just 10 singers and jazz legend John Handy, the Glide Ensemble has evolved into a formidable collective of over 100 voices and eight musicians, dedicated to lifting spirits and fostering community. As they take the stage after The Hooks and before Dublin Soul, prepare to be moved.
