On April 3, 5:30pm-6:30pm, meet Beetlelady entomologist Stephanie Dole, PhD, and tour her at-home insect collection. See a birdeater tarantula and Jerusalem cricket up-close. Look through a drawer full of bug molting artifacts and learn about how insects grow. Dance to songs by Joe Bug of the Bug Family Band in this virtual community event that will excite your mind and warm your heart.

Welcome the new year during extended hours at CuriOdyssey’s IlluminOdyssey on January 3, 5-8pm. Electrify your child’s imagination with four levels of colorful, interactive light exhibits. Enjoy live music and a cash bar while the kids meet CuriOdyssey’s animals and learn about their defenses. Dance on swirling designs and be swept away by moving patterns of color. Control a glowing sculpture by John Edmark and watch as it appears to bloom. Explore a geometric village of light and pose with a projected image of the changing surface of the sun. Experience CuriOdyssey’s IlluminOdyssey during its final evening hours on January 3 before it closes for the year on January 5.

Play inside CuriOdyssey’s dazzling IlluminOdyssey until 8pm on Friday, December 6. Dance with a live band, purchase hot dinner and meet CuriOdyssey’snocturnal animals. Carry a color changing lantern as you wander through a radiant jungle and under an illuminated canopy of fiber optic strands. Touch a plasma ball to make electric tendrils come alive. Design a phosphorescent image using a drawing robot and create a refractive rainbow at the tip of a wand. Experience the excitement and beauty of IlluminOdyssey during these special extended evening hours.

Celebrate Dia de los Muertos as a family at CuriOdyssey’s First Friday Family Night on November 1, 5-8pm. Make a colorful tissue paper flower with The Mexican Museum and decorate a celebratory ofrenda honoring beloved animals from CuriOdyssey’s long history in the community. Meet animals that live at CuriOdyssey now and learn folklore about their species. Enjoy a live band and beer or wine from a cash bar. Grab a hot dinner as the kids explore and experiment with science in fun, hands-on exhibits.

Slither into October at CuriOdyssey’s First Friday Family Night on October 4, 5-8pm. Kids wearing costumes get free admission to this special event. Meet and learn about CuriOdyssey’s animals that slither and screech. Relax with a cash bar and live rock, rhythm and blues with a few spooky tunes mixed in. Find out how thrilling science can be as you play with fog, swirl viscous fluid, make objects appear to levitate and examine CuriOdyssey’s animals’ x-rays. Dance and play in the moonlight at CuriOdyssey’s hauntingly fun October First Friday Family Night!
