Lightpost Winery welcomes everyone for a day of cultural education and celebration, dedicated to International Day of Vyshyvanka, Ukraine's legendary embroidered garment.

Learn all about the ancient and mysterious /vyh-shyh-VAH-nkah/, while you taste some of California's loveliest wines and help us raise funds to directly support those in Ukraine who need it.

Special guests at this year's Vyshyvanka Fest:

Buryma Band

Hear the sound of Ukraine! The finest Ukrainian quartet plays fiery folk songs, and modern takes on classical repertoire. Everyone is welcome to dance. Set times will be posted one week before the event.

Ukrainian Dancers

Witness the spirit of Ukraine! Our special guests Tatiana Burdiak and Billy Prusinowski proudly perform traditional dances of their ancestors. A performance not to be missed.

Live artist Nadia Kotova

Watch the canvas transform throughout the celebration, as Nadia creates her latest piece dedicated to Ukrainian women and children. The painting will be auctioned off at the end of the event and all proceeds will go directly to provide art therapy, meals and necessary supplies to refugee children in western Ukraine.

OUR WORKSHOPS. Adults and children can learn traditional Ukrainian crafts!

Motanka class by Genie Gonchar, Los Angeles. Kids and adults make their own traditional protective doll from linen and twine, as they learn the history of Ukrainian rituals and object magic. A profound way to connect to the Ukrainian spirit. Same type of motankas are being made by refugee children in Ivano-Frankivsk and delivered to soldiers by volunteers, along with critical aid. Proceeds from this event provide art therapy, meals and rehabilitation services to refugee children.

Embroidery class: “Vyshyvanka elements for everyone” with Anya Gura. Participants will learn the history, significance and symbolism of Ukraine’s most ancient ‘writing’ - vyshyvanka embroidery, all while learning to embroider a protective element of Ukrainian vyshyvanka for themselves! Participants take their beautiful artwork home and gain the ability to create their own embroidery in the future.

Vinok class with live flowers and greenery for all ages. Make your own Ukrainian headdress and learn the special meaning behind this ancient accessory, as well as the 12 different colors of Ukrainian ribbons and their placement.

But wait, there is more:

ꕥ Silent auction of hand-embroidered vyshyvanka shirts for men and women, directly from Ivano-Frankivsk, Ukraine. Proceeds support the children and people of western Ukraine.

ꕥ Home decor collection of modern ethno-chic accessories made by elderly craftswomen in Mykolayiv, Ukraine. Proceeds support elderly and disabled in Ukraine.

ꕥ Jewelry, art and accessories by local designers, inspired by ancient Ukrainian craft techniques.

ꕥ Wooden crafts by California Craft House. Ukraine-inspired handmade home decor, wooden art and more. Support your local, Ukrainian, small family business.

ꕥ Small Ukrainian bites, perfect with wine. Blue and yellow fine chocolate. Artisanal breads. Teas, non-alcoholic iced berry infusions.
