DANIEL BARTHOLOMEW-POYSER LEADS TEEN NIGHT AT THE SAN FRANCISCO SYMPHONY, MARCH 26, 2022
Bay Area musician, composer, educator, and activist Kev Choice joins Bartholomew-Poyser and the Orchestra to perform his composition Movements
San Francisco Symphony Resident Conductor of Engagement and Education Daniel Bartholomew-Poyser leads Teen Night at the San Francisco Symphony on Saturday, March 26, 2022. Designed for teenagers 13 and up, Teen Night features interactive elements like games, trivia, and prizes alongside an eclectic program of music by John Adams, Daniel Bartholomew-Poyser, Kev Choice, Anna Clyne, Gustav Holst, Arturo Márquez, Max Richter, Gioachino Rossini, Igor Stravinsky, Piotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky, George Walker, and John Williams.
Bay Area pianist, composer, emcee, producer, educator, and activist Kev Choice makes a special guest appearance during the concert, performing his 2020 composition Movements with Bartholomew-Poyser and the Orchestra. Movements was released on SFS Media in September 2021 and was first heard in the Symphony’s CURRENTS video series on CURRENTS: From Scratch in September 2020.
“Teen Night is a multi-genre interactive orchestral experience featuring a big orchestra with some of the biggest sounds in classical music,” said Bartholomew-Poyser. “Not only will teens hear some of their favorite familiar orchestral pieces, but they’ll also encounter modern orchestra sounds and movie favorites and see a performance from the amazing Oakland-based Hip-Hop artist Kev Choice. This is a concert built to surprise, and we want Bay Area young people to have a blast.”
