We are all facing a summer of unknowns, parents especially. Since spring, we’ve had the benefit of some structure and social connections with distance learning. When school comes to a halt, many of us are faced with a summer of no structure, no plans, unknown social opportunities, and an unknown future this fall. How can we cope?!
Join us for a conversation with Dr. Christine Carter, author of “The New Adolescence: Raising Happy and Successful Teens in an Age of Anxiety and Distraction,” and David Frankenberg, Head of the Drew School. Carter and Frankenberg will answer audience questions and discuss strategies for supporting kids during these uncertain times (and for coping ourselves!) as we head into the summer.
A sought-after parent coach and sociologist at UC Berkeley’s Greater Good Science Center, Dr. Carter, melds research—including the latest findings in neuroscience, sociology, and social psychology—with her own real-world experiences as the mother of four teenagers.
Born in the Netherlands and raised in Argentina, David Frankenberg attended high school in Hong Kong before coming to the U.S. to attend Wesleyan University. He began his teaching and administrative career in Argentina and has worked for the past 20 years in independent schools as an English teacher, Dean of Students, Debate coach, and Department Head, and Middle and High School Principal. David holds a Masters in Educational Leadership from Harvard University.
