Ready for a night of mid-summer lunar celebration? From the vantage point of the China Camp Point bayside bluff, we will set up our telescope and get an up-close look at the full moon as it rises over the East Bay hills. Learn about the fascinating origin of the moon and make homemade s’more “moon” pies. This month’s lunar beauty is called “the sturgeon moon,” so called because it was the month when sturgeon were most plentiful in the Great Lakes region. It’s also the last super moon of the season.
This event welcomes all ages, and is accessible by wheelchair.
