Let’s celebrate fall’s unique beauty: the golden hills, migrating birds, and a bright harvest moon. On this month’s moderate, 4.5-mile round-trip hike, we will ascend to one of the best vista points in the park to view the moonrise over the sparkling bay.
The harvest moon, the full moon that occurs closest to the autumnal equinox, has historically assisted farmers with their harvest by providing an abundance of bright, early evening moonlight. The rise of this moon also marks the start of the mid-autumn festival, celebrated in China and other countries across the globe.
