This year the San Francisco Ballet School students will take the stage at the War Memorial Opera House for the annual San Francisco Ballet School Spring Festival. This will not only be the first time many of these talented young dancers will appear on this stage, but it will also be the first time that the Grammy Award-winning San Francisco Ballet Orchestra will perform at the Spring Festival alongside the students.
This year’s programming, curated by School Director Grace Holmes will celebrate SF Ballet and SF Ballet School’s incredible legacy with choreographic selections from former Artistic Directors performed by the stars of tomorrow. From Lew Christensen’s Concerto Grosso to current Artistic Director Tamara Rojo’s Raymonda expect excerpts from some of most treasured pieces created for SF Ballet, as well as new works created for the students.
The gala-style performances will occur at the home of San Francisco Ballet, the War Memorial Opera House, on May 9 and 10. A special fundraising dinner will take place in the ornate and grand Main Lobby Saturday, May 10, following a late matinee performance. New this year will be the addition of a Meet the Artist interview before each performance. Get special insight from artists to be announced later this spring.
Proceeds from this event will support the $1.5 million in scholarships and financial aid the School distributes annually to deserving students, as well as SF Ballet’s education and outreach programs that server over 40,000 children, families, and community members throughout San Francisco each year.
