Description

A lushly animated celebration of Japanese culture from Netflix and Tonko House, makers of The Dam KeeperMoom, and Pig: The Dam Keeper Poems. In a world filled with Japanese mythological gods and monsters, one of the creatures’ free-spirited daughters, Onari, is determined to follow in the footsteps of the mighty heroes of lore, but her unique powers are yet to be revealed. Does she have what it takes to fight to protect her peaceful village from the encroaching threat of the gods’ mysterious enemies, the “Oni”? Featuring the voice talent of Craig RobinsonMomona TamadaAnna AkanaGeorge Takei, and Archie Yates. We will be screening episodes 1 & 2. The full series will debut on Netflix later this Fall. 

During audience seating we will begin with a Taiko drum demonstration from students in the Japanese Bilingual Bicultural Program at Clarendon Elementary. Stick around afterwards for a Q&A and meet & greet with Daisuke “Dice” Tsutsumi and Sara K. Sampson.

This special event, hosted by SFFILM Education under its Family Programming initiative, is free and open to the public. Advance RSVP is required.
