In May 1972, the Ascension Cathedral made history by hosting the inaugural Greek Week, marking the beginning of a beloved tradition that has since evolved into a cornerstone of Oakland's cultural landscape.  What began as a humble gathering has become the highly anticipated Oakland Greek Festival - a celebration of our rich culture.
