Who better to celebrate the spring equinox with than with our nearest and dearest celestial friend, the moon! Overlooking the sparkling waters of San Pablo Bay, we will convene at China Camp Point and enjoy a clear view of the “Worm Moon” as it rises over the East Bay hills. This month’s moon is believed to get its name from earthworms or wormlike beetle larvae which often emerge after spring rains.
Natural history docent Harold Hirsch will share fascinating facts about the science, cultural significance, and history of the moon and the spring equinox. We’ll finish with a sweet treat: all the fixins for s’more “moon pies.” This stationary, wheelchair-accessible, family-friendly event welcomes all ages and abilities. Wear warm clothing for chilly evening weather.
