Marin Shakespeare Company’s 30th Anniversary Season Opens with Measure for Measure

Marin Shakespeare Company opens its 30th Anniversary Summer Season with a “Pay What You Will” Celebration on June 29 at 7:00 pm, featuring complimentary Champagne and desserts. The opening night performance of Measure for Measure follows at 8:00 pm.  

Measure for Measure

The production features a contemporary design, with scenes set in nearby San Quentin prison, where the company has taught Shakespeare in Prison classes since 2003. Measure for Measure is Shakespeare’s exploration of justice and injustice with contemporary “ripped from the headlines” themes that explore issues highlighted by the #metoo movement and questions about what leads to overincarceration.

June 29 – July 21, 2019.  Performances with pre-show conversations with director, Bob Currier are at 7:15 pm before the performance on July 5, 12, and 19; post-show conversation follows the 4 pm matinee on July 7. Performances are presented outdoors Thursdays through Saturdays at 8 pm; Sundays at 4 pm, at Forest Meadows Amphitheatre, located on the campus of Dominican University of California, 890 Belle Avenue, San Rafael, CA.  Doors open one hour before showtime.
