In this fascinating and fun program, Junior Rangers will uncover the mystery of how San Francisco Bay came to be. Our educators will take little ones on a magical journey back thousands of years, to a time when the San Francisco Bay was a grassland river valley. Back then, the region was home to roaming herds of 13-foot-tall Columbian mammoths and giant camels.
How did these grasslands become a sprawling bay filled with animals? What mysterious forces formed China Camp’s present-day shoreline and tidal marshlands, and how did it happen? We will share answers to these questions and more as we explore China Camp’s shoreline. Dress in weather-appropriate clothing and bring snacks, water, a smile, and a spirit of adventure.
