Tuesdays: Songwriting & Recording

For Students of All Levels
Our Songwriters Program is for young musicians who write, including singers who write lyrics. Students will learn the craft of writing songs and self-expression through music. For songwriting we look at telling stories in the most authentic voice possible. We work on cultivating lyrical imagery, developing melodies, composing musical hooks, and learning a variety of song structures. Students will have the opportunity to do both solo writing and group collaborations. We will do free writing, learn to silence the inner critic, and spend time appreciating the great songs and songwriters who have come before us. Each student will emerge with a brand new original composition by the end of the week!

Wednesdays: All Star Band Master Class

For Intermediate/Advanced Students
Limited Availability: 6-7 students per band
Our Finding Your Voice All Star Master Band Program is available to young musicians that want to learn to use their skills to rock out with other like minded musicians in an ensemble. In the course of this 10 week program, students will learn to collectively play 3 songs, culminating in an on stage performance!!
Auditions for Band Master Class
Fall 2023 Auditions are by video submission. Upon reviewing all submissions, the directors will decide if they need to do any in-person auditions. Suggested submissions are: drums, bass, guitar, keyboards, vocalists etc. However, submissions from any and all instruments are accepted and encouraged.
Current and ongoing lessons are highly encouraged.
For your audition video, perform any cover or original song sung/played to a backing track, or your instrument. Also show if you can improvise over a 12-bar blues pattern, demonstrate chord changes, varying rhythm patterns, scales, rhythmic rudiments, and/or vocal range.

With his 40+ years experience, Danny Uzilevsky will share his wide-ranging experience as a session musician, in demand guitar-slinger, popular bandleader, arranger, producer, and recording engineer, to help aspiring young musicians understand how to use their skills to effectively play together with others in a band setting.

Thursdays: Voice + Guitar & Ukulele Lessons

For Students of All Levels
VOICE
Participants will have the opportunity to learn healthy vocal techniques to expand range, develop ear training, improve tone, dynamics, pitch, vibrato, and anchor breathing. The goal is to build confidence and authenticity, and to cultivate your own unique sound. We will draw from the schools of both 'Speech Level Singing' and classical theory while we explore a variety of musical styles including rock, pop, standards, jazz, R&B, country, folk, rap, spoken word, and even classical arias. Voice and presence have a huge impact on how we feel and how others receive us, so when students 'find their voice' they can achieve more in all avenues of life.
GUITAR & UKULELE
In this class series, you will learn the anatomy of the guitar/ukulele, how to tune your instrument, how to play basic chords, as well as picking and strumming techniques. We will also focus on learning contemporary & classic songs to make the experience fun and inspiring! There will be time for jams and improvisation.

This class series offers kids the gift of a life long love of music and skills they can carry with them forever. Our faculty are professional musicians and dedicated teachers, experienced with working with kids and teens.
