Like the ever-changing wardrobe of teenagers, young gulls exhibit wild swings and revamps in their plumage colors and patterns in the five years leading up to maturity, making them a challenge for even experienced birders to correctly identify. Learn what to look for on this summer’s birding hikes. We’ll take to the shoreline to focus on identifying all types and ages of gulls, as well as shorebirds, ducks, and other tidal visitors. We will also explore upland grassland and scrub habitat, which is often filled with small singing and perching birds.
Please join us for our monthly bird walks, and be sure to bring comfortable walking shoes, water, and binoculars.
