de Youngsters Day Out

We invite you, and all Bay Area families, to attend this year’s de Youngsters Day Out. This free, in-person, all-day event includes hands-on art making activities, entertainment led by community partners, and workshops and presentations by local contemporary artists interpreting our permanent collection inside and outside the museum.

Proceeds from the event will support our Equity Schools Partnership Project, which provides in-classroom instructional support, art supplies, and transportation for students who do not typically visit the de Young.

10:30 am–2 pm \ Forest of Lost and Found

Osher Sculpture Garden

Led by renowned local artist Ranu Mukherjee, recall a memory or feeling to create an art piece and add it to a collaborative 2D forest of trees.

11 am–4 pm \ Flower Fields

Front Lawn

Led by renowned local artist Yétúndé Olagbaju, paint a flower inspired by Hung Liu or Patrick Kelly.

Hip Hop For Change will present about hip hop culture’s past, present, and future and its impact on society, social justice, and modern art. UnLearn The World will lead a beat making and rap songwriting workshop.

Make art you can eat! The Great Tortilla Conspiracy will present their creative, edible, printmaking technique.

Join artist Ramekon O’Arwisters for a Crochet Jam session. This art making event is embracing and inclusive, with participants free to decide the creative process and finished project.
