Culture for Community: Free Day

  • SFMOMA 151 3rd Street San Francisco, CA, 94103 United States (map)

SFMOMA is opening the museum free of charge all day on Thursday, February 20, and participating in the Culture for Community initiative — a coalition of more than a dozen Yerba Buena neighborhood arts and cultural institutions offering a community day of free admission. Enjoy exhibitions, activities, and events at participating organizations uniting on this day and celebrating Black History Month.

Don’t miss out! Admission is free, but an RSVP is highly encouraged. When you reserve, you’ll also be entered to win a one-year SFMOMA membership. Limit two adult tickets per reservation. Children 18 and younger always get into SFMOMA free.

Enjoy a day of exhibitions and events — from vibrant, moving portraits by photographer Dawoud Bey and screenings of films by Nicole Miller and Rashaad Newsome, to hourly gallery tours, an interactive LiDAR experience presented by Cruise, and family story time hosted by the San Francisco Public Library. Celebrate Black History Month, relax in the airy galleries or take in the largest Living Wall in the U.S.

Pack light; coat check will be available on a first-come, first-served basis.

Make a day of it! Visit other Culture for Community partners, all of which are offering free admission. Scroll down to see a list of participating organizations.
