Youth Works Screening and Q&A with Directors Madison Empalmado and Kai Tomizawa

Kai Tomizawa’s No Fan of Andy is a lighthearted comedy about a pet-related mishap and a devoted but misguided friend that has to carry out an absurd plan for redemption, and Madison Empalmado’s Chasing Normality is an emotional documentary that intends to start a deeper conversation about mental health by telling the stories of high school students as they struggle with various disorders. Both short films were official selections of the 2020 SFFILM Festival Youth Works Program, and we are happy to have a platform to celebrate the work of these young women directors!

Join us following the short film screenings for an insightful and educational Q&A with directors Madison Empalmado and Kai Tomizawa, to learn about the making of their films and to hear how other young filmmakers can bring their ideas to the big screen. Recommended for ages 11 and up.
