The Corporation for National and Community Service helps sponsor the event in Oakland, and throughout the nation. Hundreds of thousands of volunteers pitch in on similar community service projects.

Volunteers are encouraged to take action locally by keeping Oakland’s neighborhoods, local parks, and waterways clean, reporting illegal dumping, planting trees and other native plants across the city, and engaging in educational opportunities in the community!
