The tamalada is a traditional event that brings together family, neighbors, and friends. The social gathering, usually held the weeks preceding Christmas, ferments conversations, bonding, and occasionally, friendly gossip.

Participants will learn the authentic methods for making the tamale masa and different fillings as well as different techniques of rolling and folding the tamales.

Students will take home a dozen tamales to cook at home.
