FREE Summer Camps & Workshops at Stern Grove
Stern Grove Festival’s admission-free education and outreach programs provide enriching opportunities for thousands of Bay Area children and adults each year and registration starts TODAY. This summer, participants can learn dance, drumming, songwriting, and more and they book up fast. Parents can participate too! Stern Grove Festival’s education and outreach programs include:
KIDS DAY
Single day interactive arts education programs for children ages 4-11.
DANCE MISSION
When: June 28, June 29, or June 30
Time: 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Explore popular dance styles from across Latin America with dance instructors from Dance Mission.
TACUMA KING & COMPANY
When: July 12, July 13 or July 14
Time: 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.
Learn drumming and dances from different regions of Africa with renowned local drumming instructor Tacuma King.
SAN FRANCISCO BALLET
When: July 19, July 20 or July 21
Time: 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.
Learn dances around the world, from ballet to Bollywood.
KIDS CAMP
Three-day arts education workshop series for children ages 8-12.
SONGWRITING/SPOKEN WORD WITH ZAKIYA HARRIS
When: June 14, 15, and 16
Time: 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.
Led by artist and performer Zakiya Harris, participants will explore the craft of songwriting and collaborate to create and perform new songs.
DANCE KIDS CAMP WITH PAULA PLESSAS-HALL
When: June 21, 22, 23
Time: 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.
Participants will create and perform choreography using hip hop, contemporary, and modern movement.
RHYTHM WITH JIM SANTI OWEN, MICHAELLE GOERLITZ AND DAWN RICHARDSON
When: August 9, 10, 11
Time: 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.
Participants will take a hands-on journey examining the role of the drum in different musical styles (tabla, Afro-Latin and rock).
The Stern Grove FREE concert lineup will be announced on May 1st as well as KidStage, another kid-friendly hands-on workshops and pre-concert Artist Talks with featured Festival artists.

The Stern Grove Festival Association is a non-profit arts presenting organization committed to providing the people of the Bay Area with admission-free access to diverse, outstanding performing arts. Every year since 1938, the organization presents admission-free, outdoor concerts at Stern Grove Festival. A San Francisco tradition, music and nature lovers gather at The Festival to enjoy music, picnicking, and relaxation in a serene meadow surrounded by giant eucalyptus, redwood, and fir trees.
