Families inspire by example. Talk to your child about what is most important to them. Then think of a nonprofit where your child has expressed their passions and figure out what you can do to help OR start your own drive.
Some ideas can be to do a collection drive with friends, family, and neighbors:

help with the garden at Homeward Bound's New Beginnings Center in Novato
visit a senior through LITA
sew wheelchair bags for patients at Children's Hospital in Oakland
gather art supplies for Drawbridges

this holiday Adopt a Family
clean a park or beach with Marin County Parks & Open Space
help in your school garden or help clean the grounds

Some fun ways to volunteer in November:
Pizza Party, Saturday, November 10, 9am – 1pm, Horse Hill Preserve, broom-busting pizza party and raffle. Ages 5 and up; anyone under age 18 must be accompanied by a supervising adult.
Tree Planting At Stafford Lake Park, Sunday, November 11, 9:00 AM 11:00 AM, (map), Join fellow community members and Marin County Parks' staff to help plant dozens of trees in the upper picnic areas at Stafford Lake Park. The new trees will beautify the park, provide shade for park users, and enhance native wildlife habitat.
Creekside Restoration, Saturday, November 17, 9am – 12pm, Meet across from Marin General Hospital at Hal Brown Park at Creekside. Enrich important habitat at Hal Brown Park and Creekside Marsh with One Tam and Marin County Parks. Join the community-based effort to install a diverse palette of native plants at a site once dominated by non-native grasses and weeds. All ages; kids with an adult.
