Celebrate Earth Day

Earth Day is Saturday, April 22! This day we dedicate to "Mother Earth" with many special events celebrating the modern environmental movement.  Since its inception on April, 22, 1970, the Bay Area celebrates with many special events to teach kids about how they can help protect the the environment. From restoration projects to festivals, families can have fun and make a difference.

Butterfly Release Program, learn how to carefully release a newly emerged butterfly into the exhibit and receive complimentary people-sized antennae and a special Patrol badge, Conservatory of Flowers, San Francisco.

Earth Day Celebration, 2:30-4pm, join us in the SmartGarden for earth-friendly stories, crafts, and a garden scavenger hunt!  All ages, no registration required. Mill Valley Library.

Free National Parks Weekend

Mt. Tam Earth Day, 9am-12:30pm, We'll be at the epic Mountain Theater atop Mt. Tam. Projects will include pulling invasive plants that threaten the mountain's rich biodiversity, improving our trails, and working to maintain the historic Mountain Theater.

Earth Day Cleanup and Nature Walk at Hal Brown Park/Corte Madera Creek, 9am-12pm, Join Marin County Parks and WildCare staff for litter cleanup.

Earth Day: Golden Gate National Parks Day of Service, 9am-1pm, hosting a variety of projects ranging from habitat restoration to trail mainentance to beach cleanups at Mori Point, Stinson Beach, Marin County, Marin Headlands, San Francisco, Lands End, Ocean Beach, San Mateo County, Rodeo Beach.

Emeryville's Shoreline Cleanup, 9am-12pm, Shoreline Park.

Beach & Park Cleanup, 9am-12pm, CuriOdyssey and the San Mateo County park rangers are sponsoring a Beach and Park Cleanup project at Coyote Point Park.

Earth Day at Creekside Park in Greenbrae, 9:30am-12:30pm, help with the beautification and habitat restoration project around the Creekside Marsh and Corte Madera Creek, meet at the pedestrian bridge across from Marin General Hospital.

SUNDAY APRIL 23

Create-With-Nature Earth Day Celebration, 11am-3pm, construct sculpture using sand, rocks, shells, seaweed and other beach treasures, south end of Stinson Beach.

Discovery Day, 1-5pm, free, all ages are welcome to visit our marine lab on the Bay and discover science in actionRomberg Tiburon Center.
