Friday, April 28, Arbor Day

Arbor Day Celebration Kicks Off New Dedication Tree Program, 9-11am, free, family-friendly Dedication Tree Ceremony, include a seedling giveaway, Marin Master Gardeners talk, virtual reality redwoods, leaf printing, children’s storytime, Library Bookmobile, and One Tam Roving Ranger. Then we will gather for the ceremonial planting of an Autumn Blaze Maple on Children’s Island, with a reading by Marin Poet Laureate Rebecca Foust Lagoon Park, Civic Center, San Rafael.

Blossoms, Bees & Barnyard Babies, 10am-4pm, Sonoma County farms are abundant with seedlings and barnyard babies. Pack up the family and head out to the farm to celebrate Spring and see what's flowering! Tour your way through Sonoma County and visit farms of your choice. Activities include farm tours, demonstrations, animal petting, games and crafts for kids, tastings, cooking demos, flower arranging, and more. Many stops will offer snacks, lunches and epic picnic sites. Farm stands will be open for fresh-from-the-source purchases.

Fish For Crabs, 10am & 1pm, ages 4-10, Attention all creative crustaceans! Prepare your claws and carapaces for a family event devoted entirely to crabs! Learn about crab anatomy with our crab dress-up costume. Look and touch real live shore crabs and sand crabs. Cesar Chavez Holiday Parade and Festival, Celebrates the life and work of this labor and civil rights leader, Parade starts at 11am at Dolores Park, Festival is on 24th Street between Treat and Bryant from 12pm to 5pm, San Francisco.

Astronomy Day, 10 am – 4 pm, an opportunity to share in a love for stargazing filled with talks from both expert and amateur astronomers, building space-related crafts, learning about cutting edge research in the Bay, and more.
