Find out why San Francisco had the only brick fort west of the Missippi, and the role of California in the Civil War. See cooking demonstrations, hear period music, and meet military historian John Martini who will sign his classic book on the fort's history available in the bookstore. Tours of the fort conducted throughout the day. A stirring flag ceremony will begin the day. Admission is free. Free parking along Marine Drive and fee parking is at Battery East.
